Topic: An Updated Stratigraphic Framework of the Cisco Group of the Southern Eastern Shelf of the Permian Basin: Implications on the Distribution of Incised-Valley Systems
Speaker: Fritz Palacios
A PhD student in geological sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. His PhD project consists of studying the stratigraphic architecture and evolution of mixed siliciclastic-carbonate systems of the Cisco Group in the Eastern Shelf of the Permian Basin. This project is funded by the State of Texas Advanced Resource Recovery (STARR) Program of the Bureau of Economic Geology. Fritz has worked under the supervision of Bill Ambrose and Dr. Ron Steel, systems of the Cisco Group in the Eastern Shelf of the Permian Basin. This project is funded by the State of Texas Advanced Resource Recovery (STARR) Program of the Bureau of Economic Geology. Fritz has worked under the supervision of Bill Ambrose and Dr. Ron Steel, and currently he is working under the supervision of Dr. Lorena Moscardelli.
Fritz received a BS in Geological Engineering in Peru in 2007 and worked for seven years as exploration geologist in the Peruvian offshore. Among his responsibilities, he generated prospects in mature basins, developed stratigraphic studies in frontier basins and worked as a wellsite geologist for Savia Peru. In 2018, he received a MSc in Geological Sciences from UT Austin under the supervision of Tucker Hentz and Dr. Bill Fisher working on a project in the southern Eastern Shelf. He has done two internships with Shell, where he worked in the department of New Ventures–Unconventionals fine tuning the stratigraphic framework of the Vaca Muerta Shale (Argentina) for a joint venture evaluation.
